Sipocot, CamSur

Plans are underway for a cohesive farm community to have a self-sustaining livelihood program as well as a fully integrated educational community offering PREPPI FOR POOR School System.

Preppi’s ”Touch the Future” Empower Program conducted an initial survey of the poor children in the select community and offered a taste of Preppi for a week last Dec 2010.

The major participating sponsor organization and individuals partnering with Preppi School generously opened their home to allow the Preppi team to conduct classes to the children. Improvised materials were used. There were no child-sized furniture yet and in fact, chairs were used as tables and children were standing doing the activities presented.

Despite the limitations, many children learned how to control their emotions (no more tantrums!) and manage their body moves well in a day. There was an Impromptu Parent Enrichment Talk presented to the parents to guide them on how to sustain what the children have learned in just a few days.

Even though the children spoke the Bicol language, they responded well to the English Instruction.

In this photo, Teacher Marita stays beside a child who took some time in weaning from her parents.

Despite her tears and tantrums, she exhibited strong interest in learning the Preppi way. In fact, she did not understand why she had to go home after the session.

Preppi is currenly training the Dream Team to be deployed in this select community. Beautiful things take time. Well-trained teachers and staff are key to the success of the educational mission.

Preppi continues to raise funds for support. If you would like to be part of this mission, please contact us at info@oldpreppi.iempoweryou.com
