Licenses

Does the school comply with annual government requirements such as permits, licenses, clearances? How will you know? The government requires every business establishment to display on their wall or on Front Desk its annual business permit. If you don’t see a framed business permit in the administration office, inquire about it. It is common for many entities to operate without complying with the necessary government permits. Choose a school that upholds integrity and is government compliant. A government compliant school shows its respect for authority, willingness to follow rules and maintain standards. It aims for a high standard service for the good of your child. It promotes integrity in its educational and business practices.

Does the school issue Official Receipts approved by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)?

It would also be helpful to find out if the school is a legal business entity by checking it out from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Find out the kind of organization the school is set up? Is it a non-stock and non-profit foundation, a profit Corporation, a partnership or a sole proprietorship? There are more measures of control and accountability for schools that are set up as a corporation/foundation. A school has less obligation and accountability if it is solely owned by in an individual.
